199 William Street, Melbourne

Project: William Street Tower Conversion
Function: Residential conversion
Location: Melbourne, Australia

Firm: Bruce Henderson Architects

The project is the repurposing of a neglected office building built in 1966, into a vibrant apartment building in the heart of Melbourne’s legal precinct.
The transformation includes a new façade system and updated building services, as well as the introduction of significant environmental initiatives such as photovoltaic cells that will generate power back into the grid and rainwater harvesting.
The William houses 531 apartments, including 87 serviced apartments. All apartments have generous ceiling heights and include a terrace or a winter garden. Additional amenities include generous retail areas at ground floor and a residents’ heated outdoor swimming pool located on one of the upper roof deck levels.
